Personal Anecdotes
Favorite Los Angeles activity? Spending time at The Getty – whether the Getty Villa in Malibu or the Getty Center off the 405 Freeway. I’ve enjoyed the Getty Villa since I was in high school – when we visited before it was renovated.
Favorite Los Angeles Restaurant? Over the last 5 years I would have to say Bouchon in Beverly Hills. My wife Lisa and I find that for a great glass wine or steak frites, it can’t be beat. As of 2018, Bouchon is now gone in Los Angeles. I’ve yet to plant my feet firmly somewhere else, but have enjoyed Hillstone in Santa Monica, since it replaced the venerable Bob Burns on Wilshire and 2nd in Santa Monica.
Favorite weekend getaway? Since my wife Lisa and I were married in Napa Valley, I’d have to say getting back up to Napa is always a treat. Our wine tastes have evolved over the last decade, but we still love going to certain favorites. Robert Craig and O’Shaughnessy are a couple of our favorite Howell Mountain wines.
Favorite pastime? Spending time with my two young daughters, Katherine and Alexandra. It’s amazing what I’ve learned through some of their favorite shows, Paw Patrol and Peg+Cat. They also now enjoy Fuller House on Netflix.
I’ve always had a passion for managing the details. After graduating from UCLA, I joined Bank of America Global Capital Markets, spending time in San Francisco, London, and Los Angeles. In the following decades, I was a executive within the technology and digital media space, including time at EMC and Nokia. After the birth of my two daughters, Katherine and Alexandra, I realized that I could build more impactful and fulfilling client relationships by joining Dad in his investment management practice.
Having been an executive with large multinational corporations as well as small tech startups, I understand the complexity of stock options, deferred compensation packages, and many other financial issues that confront executives. Being a parent, I understand the issues around education funding for my kids as well as funding my own retirement. Being a son and grandson, I understand the challenges with managing required retirement distributions from qualified retirement vehicles by my parents and grandparents.
Anyone can call themselves a financial advisor, financial planner, financial consultant or wealth manager, as these are generic terms, and do not signify any securities licenses, designations or certifications. I am a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ certificant, as well as hold the Chartered Financial Consultant®, Chartered Life Underwriter®, and Accredited Investment Fiduciary® designations. I have taken over 12 proctored comprehensive exams in order to use these letters after my name. I believe knowledge is essential to providing superior service.
I’m a long time resident of Santa Monica, California, and live there with my wife Lisa and two daughters. Please reach out if I can be of assistance. Contact me at andrew@eddyfinancial.com. Andrew Eddy’s California Insurance License is № 0K02163.

Personal Anecdotes
Favorite Los Angeles activity? Meeting for Sunday breakfast in Malibu with family.
Favorite Vacation spot? United Kingdom – I love spending time in small towns and learning about the history of an area. I’ve been a member of the National Trust for over thirty years.
Favorite pastime? Since I love history, it’s been fun to learn interesting things about my forebearers. My Grandmother (Ruth Story Devereux) was a genealogist, and spent a great deal of time in the early 20th century, researching the Eddy family tree. She subsequently published The Eddy Family in America books.
Favorite Charities? Doctors without Borders and supporting my alma mater Amherst College. I’m proud that the college has been able to accept students on a needs blind basis — and provide full tuition for students that cannot afford the cost.
I’ve been deeply involved in the financial services industry for over 50 years in a variety of roles including as a corporate executive, a general agent and a wealth management advisor.
I’ve been an active advocate for ethical practices in the financial community and feel passionately about helping people accomplish their goals with straightforward unbiased advice.
At Eddy Financial, we are fiduciaries, meaning we act in your best interests, always. It’s frustrating that there are two standards of advice in the investment community, and we find clients rarely understand the distinctions before they meet with us.
I am excited every day to work for our clients — whether helping them to prepare for retirement, to start a fund for a child’s college education, or by designing and implementing sophisticated business agreements, estate plans, or executive compensation programs.
As the industry has evolved, I’ve been lucky enough to play a role working in management, helping individual advisors better understand and assist their clients. Having been the advisor’s advisor, you will receive my wealth of knowledge about complex situations, delivered in an easy to understand way.
I believe education and preparation is key in providing solutions to client challenges. I graduated from Amherst College and received my MBA while in Boston. I held the CFP® certification from December 1986 to November 2022. I continue to hold the two other major industry designations — the Chartered Financial Consultant® ChFC® and the Chartered Life Underwriter® CLU® designations for more than 25 years.
A little about my professional background — for over 25 years I worked for Manulife Financial, a global financial services leader, currently doing business as John Hancock in the United States. I’m past president of the San Fernando Valley Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors and have been active in various estate planning councils, as well as the Association for Advanced Life Underwriting in Washington, D.C. I twice served as president of the San Fernando Valley Chapter of the Society of Financial Service Professionals; during my tenure, the chapter was named National Chapter of the Year.
My taste in books and music is extremely eclectic, and I love traveling with my wife of over 50 years, Susan.
Please drop me a line if you’d like to start a conversation or if I can be of service to you in any way at bob@eddyfinancial.com.
